Flash-OFDM (Fast Low Latency Access with Seamless Handoff - OFDM) is a proprietary technology from Flarion for mobile broadband datacommunications. Flash-OFDM is completely based on IP over a packet-switched network. Speech services are only possible with Voice over IP. Flash-OFDM is mainly targeting at wireless internet access with a PC and a suitable modem. Flash-OFDM claims to be more efficiëent than UMTS. The basestation supporting the Flash-OFDM technology is called a RadioRouter. The key characteristics of Flash-OFDM are:
Flash OFDM can operate in a number of frequency bands ranging from 450 MHz to 3,5 GHz, including the IMT2000/UMTS 2 GHz bands.
