R&TTE

The Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive, R&TTE, 1999/5/EC, regulates the essential requirements that products have to meet to be placed on the market and put into service.

The usual way for manufacturers to comply with the essential requirements is to apply Harmonized Standards, developed by ETSI and by CENELEC in response to a mandate of the European Commission. Where Harmonized Standards are not applied, a Notified Body has to be consulted.
